  1. I think that the person who changed the most in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was Tom Sawyer. He changed a lot in this book, but one thing he had changed was his personality. At the beginning of the book, Tom Sawyer was mischievous and rude, but towards the end of the book Tom Sawyer turned kind hearted. For instance, when he needed to whitewash a fence for Aunt Polly, he started doing it on his own but then a bunch of people, such as Huckleberry Finn, wanted to whitewash the fence, so Tom Sawyer decided to have some fun with that. Lets just say it ended up with Tom getting a bunch of cool stuff and getting credit for an amazing job while the people who actually did it got nothing at all. But towards the end, when Tom and Becky were stuck in the cave, he shared his food with Becky and tried every possible thing he could do to get them out of the cave even when he wanted to spend time with Becky because Becky was frightened and scared and worried. For once, Tom Sawyer thought about how another person felt in a scary scenario instead of himself. In conclusion, Tom Sawyer changed a lot in this book and I think that everybody in the book had something to do with Tom changing.

  2. Becky Thatcher changed a lot in the book. In the beginning Becky was a shy, new girl. In the school house Tom was talking to her and saying now they were “engaged” and things. She started crying. I think she was kind of nervous. When Tom and Becky were in the cave Tom took out their “wedding cake”. She almost smiled. They ate some of it and Tom comforted her and she was fine with it.

  3. I think the character who changed the most throughout Tom Sawyer, was Tom. At the beginning of the book Tom was very clever and mischievous, he was also rude to other people. For example, the book starts off with Aunt Polly trying to find Tom, he pops out from behind the couch and tricks her into turning around so he can run away. But near the end of the book Tom is more kind towards others, for example when Tom and Becky get trapped in the cave, Tom shares his cake with Becky and he tries to comfort her. All in all I think Tom changes a lot throughout the book, he goes from a trouble making boy, to a kind, sweet, and more caring version of his old self.

  4. I think that Tom changed throughout the book from mischievous to Kind hearted. At first I thought he was mischievous because he tricked quite a bit of boys to whitewash the fence that he was supposed to whitewash. Even though he did not actually whitewash it he still got all the reward. But I think that Tom grew out of this because in the end he was helping his friends get through problems. He was kind hearted in the end because he helped Becky get out of the cave, she was starving and felt like she was going to die. Tom used perseverance and got out of the cave. He also helped Huck because in the end Tom gave him courage to stay with the widow so he could be with Tom’s gang. I think that Tom made a big switch throughout the story because in the end he puts himself in front of others.

  5. I think Tom changed the most in this book, he goes from almost being evil to being kind- hearted but I think he is mischievous and clever throughout the whole book. At the beginning Tom isn’t totally evil he just has his way of being clever to be mean. For example, Tom has to whitewash a fence for chores but some boys come along and Tom uses his cleverness to get them to whitewash the fence and pay him to do it. Then at the end of the book Tom turns kind-hearted because he tries to help Huck do what’s best for him. When Huck runs away because he is tired of the widow Tom says he can’t join his gang unless he goes back and stays “respectable.” Even though Tom didn’t do it in the nicest way, he still wanted what was best for his friend Huck. That’s how Tom changes in the book, although I think that he will always be clever and a bit mischievious.

  6. I think Aunt Polly changed the most because in the beginning she doesn't realize how important Tom is until she thinks Tom is dead. Then she realizes how much she actually loves Tom. Also Aunt Polly changed in how the reader thought of her because at the beginning the reader thinks of her as a woman who takes care of Tom and has to “lick” Tom. At the end the reader thinks of her as a caring “mother” who loves Tom, yet sometimes gets angry at Tom. I think part of this change is because as the reader reads on they get to know her as well as her character change as she learns on as the book continues.

  7. I used to think that Tom was Mischievous but now I think that he is kind hearted, Tom at the beginning of the book was indeed mischievous but over time he has turned kindhearted, at the beginning of the book he tricked other boys to whitewash the fence for his aunt but he ended up getting karma and ended up embarrassing himself in front of Becky. although earlier in the book he was always getting into trouble, he seemed to have grown more mature, not quite as many scuffles. Plus when they were in the cave and in the face of death with Becky, Tom still showed responsibility and he shared his food with her. Tom has grown more mature and he is now “engaged” to Becky and is friends with Huck Finn.
