I think that the book Where The Mountain Meets The Moon is about happiness because of Ma and The Buffalo Boy. Ma shows unhappiness because she thinks their life is miserable because they are really poor. “The Old Man of the Moon! Another story! Our house is bare and our rice hardly fills our bowls, but we have plenty of stories.” Ma sighed. “What a poor fortune we have!” pg 9-10. She is not grateful for what she has. The Buffalo Boy shows happiness because even though he has nothing, he feels like he is blessed. That is why I think Where The Mountain Meets The Moon.

ReplyDeleteI think its courage because Minli went on this amazing adventure to change her fortune for her family. Also she heard the dragon call for help and she wasn’t afraid. Plus she doesn’t give up and that gives courage
So far in the book Where the Mountains Meets the Moon, by Grace Lin, I think it is all about courage. In my opinion, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is all about courage for two reasons; One, Minli (the main character) leaves home to go on this amazing journey to change her family's fortune; Two, because Dragon (another main character who has been trapped in a forest for many years) agrees to go along with Minli in search for better fortune.
ReplyDeleteI think that Where the Mountain Meets is mostly about courage. I think that because, Minli is very courageous because she decided to leave home, and go on a journey by herself. Also she was courageous enough to be friends with a dragon. Lastly, she had enough courage to go into a city that she had never been in before. That is why I think Where the Mountain Meets is mostly about courage.
ReplyDeleteI think the book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is about courage. I think it’s about because Minli is brave enough to travel across the land, befriend a dragon, climb up the never ending mountain and to talk to the old man of the moon. Ma and Ba also show courage when they decide to stop looking for Minli so that she might be able to change their fortune, and just head back home. Think about it. wouldn’t it be courageous of you if you let your only child continue his/her journey to find someone that might not even exist? I think that would be hard. All in all that is why I think the book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is about courage.

ReplyDeleteI think that Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is about courage. Like when Minli goes to get a drink and hears a scream so she goes to help the Dragon and also when she tricks the monkeys into eating the rice. Also when she went to find the Old Man Of The Moon. Finally when she goes with the boy to his home.

ReplyDeleteWhere the mountain meets the moon
Some people think that Where the mountain meets the moon is about courage, or happiness and lots of other things. But I think it is about faith. (I will tell you my reasons why)
Minli
The first reason why I think that Where the mountain meets the moon is about faith is because Minli has faith in herself because she knows that she can find the old man of the moon, even though most people say he is just a myth. The second reason why I think that Minli has faith , is because she has faith in her goldfish when she lets it go and listens to its directions
Ma and Ba
Ma and Ba have faith in themselves because they know that they can find Minli and bring her home. They also have faith in themselves because they know that they goldfish man is right and they have faith in Minli.

Some people think that Where the Mountain Meets the moon is about a girl who goes to change her fortune, but I think its about courage. One reason is that Minli finds courage to go to find the old man of the moon. One other reason why Where the mountain meets the moon has courage is when Minli cut the rope from dragon.
Minli
She has courage to go to find the old man of the moon to change their fortune and get better things to live life. Another reason is that when she cut the rope to Dragon (Someone who she didn’t know and helped him.
I think were the mountain meets the moon is about kindness because,in the book the Buffalo boy was kind enough to let mini have the little suppleness he has and he is sharing it with her. Also, she reflects back on her own life and she relies that ma and BA are all the fortion they need
ReplyDeleteI think Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is mainly about kindness because, first of all, Minli is always finding a way to be kind. On page 47, Minli has done a real good act of kindness; “Minli swam over to the dragon and climbed onto his back to get out of the water. There, she opened her pack, took out the small, sharp knife she had brought with her, and started cutting the twine.” This very act of kindness was very thoughtful and also helpful, too.
ReplyDeleteAnother example of kindness is where Minli bought a peach for the beggar when nobody else did. Even though he was a bad person, it was still kind to give a poor person a peach. These acts of kindness are very thoughtful and I hope you can see why.

I guess kindness is another big thing
DeleteIn the book Where the Mountain meets the moon I think it’s about kindness because in the story of the fruitless mountain the dragons Pearl,Yellow,Long, and Black turn themselves into water for the village. Also when Minli bought a peach for the beggar that showed kindness. When the buffalo boy let Minli stay at his hut that showed kindness. In conclusion I think the book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is about kindness.

I chose kindness because Dragon helps Minli get to the man of the moon. The man helps Minli heal the dragons arm. That is important in the story because Minli has been trying to get to the man of the moon to change her family’s fortune. The man healing Dragons arm is also important because Dragon will get Minli to the old man of the moon faster than Minli just walking herself. There are also many more acts of kindness.
ReplyDeleteI like how you included examples from the book.

ReplyDeleteI chose thankfulness because I believe that thankfulness- not power, not money- is the word on the paper of happiness. Being thankful is how Minli got directions to Never-Ending Mountain; how she received the paper of happiness; and how she met Dragon. This is the real theme of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.

ReplyDeleteI think Where The Mountain Meets The Moon is about bravery and friendship. Bravery is one because Minli is very brave to leave her home and see the man of the moon (who can answer any question and tie the husband’s and wife’s string) to change her family’s poor forchan and to be a real friend to a dragon without any wings on the way.

I think that the biggest theme in The Mountain Meets the Moon is courage. This is showed when Minli comes near the Monkeys. She uses rice to distract the monkeys so she could get past to the city. In the city she sees an old beggar who is asking for a peaches Minli used the last coin to buy an peach for the old beggar. He also asked for water, she gave him that, the old beggar then used the peach pit and a stick and water for a peach tree. (PG. 123) She chased the beggar who everyone was chasing. Him the beggar ran away and Minli had a hand reach out and grab the arm of the beggar who had a gold dragon bracelet and only king s had that.

ReplyDeleteKindness is a big thing in Where The Mountain Meets The Moon. I say this because, look in the book. Do you see Minli being greedy or kind? And, what about Ba? Ma on the other hand, not so much. But remember when Minli offered the buffalo boy a coin? Or the time that she let dragon come with her? And Ba, remember when he fed the goldfish? All of these acts are acts of kindness. So I hope you agree with me.
Great Job Holly!!!!!!!! But, you spelled fortune wrong, you did F-O-R-C-A-N, this is the correct spelling F-O-R-T-U-N-E, I always remember it as "fort une"

Happiness is a great thing in where the mountain meets the moon. Explaining the paper of happiness, and also Minli was happy when she said she could change their fortune. The example is she met many friends along the way which made here happy. These are 3 examples of happiness in the book.
